Christine Townsend, CEO MusterPoint

MusterPoint was established in 2012 and today comprises of a team of emergency communicators, trainers and tech experts.  

MusterPoint founder Christine Townsend has worked in law enforcement and public sector communications for fifteen years and also provides media training and consultancy to a number of agencies around the world.

Having experience in managing high profile emergency situations, Christine saw the need for a solution to ensure effective triage and management of social media for the public sector and emergency services.

She is passionate about agency collaboration and designed MusterPoint to enable organisations large and small to overcome the challenges of managing not only day to day comms but also public safety emergency communication.

In addition to working on events such as the funeral of Baroness Thatcher, The Queen's Diamond Jubilee and The London 2012 Olympics Christine has also managed difficult and challenging incidents such as the London riots, St' Paul's Cathedral eviction, G20 riots, LIBOR scandal, national historic sex abuse investigations, county-wide flooding and emergency evacuations, airport disaster recovery and counter-terrorism incidents. 

Using her extensive experience, Christine has written many emergency planning scenario training exercises for international agencies that include active shooters, cyber attacks, train crashes and hostage situations. She is an experience Hydra suite trainer and has also developed and delivered training to hundreds of law enforcement staff around engaging with hard to reach communities using social media.

Christine was also a volunteer police officer for ten years and was awarded the Special Constables Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in 2016.  

She regularly speaks at conferences and delivers training on digital engagement and managing emergencies.
